“I did something last night I have never done before,” Stan said as he opened our conversation.
“What was that?”
“I went to a blog on the internet.”
“Why did you do that?” I asked.
“A friend had forwarded me an email that was a devotion I really liked. I decided to go to the blog of the person who had written the devotion to see what else was there.”
“Find anything interesting?” I asked.
“Oh, yeah, there is a lot of good stuff there.”
“So, you will be going back there to check it out?”
“Don’t have to do that. It will come to me.”
“How’s that going to happen?”
“At the bottom of the blog page there was a box that said ‘Follow.’ By checking that box and putting in my name and email address, all new blog posts will be sent to me automatically.”
“Well, that sounds great. Good for you.”
“There’s something even better,” Stan continued. “God has a box to check, a box that says ‘Follow Me.’”
“A blog may be good, but what God has to say to me directly through His word and through His Spirit is better. It is great!”
“I choose to check His box and to be open to all He has to make known to me. It doesn’t come automatically, but when I am open to receiving it, it comes.”
Follow Me. John 21:19.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that you want me to follow you. Thank you that you allow me to follow you. There is so much In this world to follow that is not of you. Please lead me to follow only what you want me to follow. Please, Lord, help me to follow, receive, and embrace all you have for me. Amen.
