“Played golf yesterday with a couple of friends,” Stan said one morning.
“Have a good time?” I replied.
“I did,” Stan said, “but it wasn’t easy.”
“Not easy to have a good time?”
“Well, let me explain. Both of these guys are my friends. One is real easy to love. Everybody loves him. But the other friend is not so easy to love. He’s just not real lovable. He doesn’t have a whole lot of good things to say about anything or anybody, and that gets real old real fast.
“The one is always fun to be around; the other one not so much.”
Continuing, Stan said, “But God has made it clear to me that He wants me to love both of my friends, easy or not.”
“In fact, the friend who is not so lovable probably needs to be loved the most.”
“God loves me even when I am not very lovable, and He wants the same for and from me with whoever He brings across my path.”
“That’s not very easy,” I said. “How is a person supposed to do that?”
“God is love and the first fruit of His Spirit is love.”
“I have to get myself out of God’s way so He can love others just as He wants through me.”
“Just think of the mess I would be in if God was as fickle with His love and I can be with mine.”
“God loves without condition and I am to do the same.”
“I am not in charge of who He brings across my path; and I am not to be in charge of how I love them.”

The fruit of the Spirit is love. Galatians 5:22.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for loving me even when I am unlovable. Thank you for bringing people into my life who are not very lovable so that you can express your love for them through me. You know all of the help I need in this. I ask for that help. Please, Lord, move in me in exact accord with your will to remove from me the focus on self that gets in the way of what you want to do in and through me. Thank you that I can and do come before you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Thanx Tim . I love you, you know, my brother
