130. Don’t Go There

Note from The Storyteller:  If you have not read entries 1-129, don’t hesitate doing that because Stan has some insight that may help you.  All of the entries can be found at the following website:  https://www.waiting4thetrain.com/.  Also, feel free to forward this email to everyone you think would be interested in reading this blog.

“The past couple of days,” Stan began, “we have been talking about what Jesus said about stumbling.”

“Yes,” I said.  “Don’t look and don’t touch.”

“Let’s talk about about the third part of what Jesus said to avoid another way of stumbling.”

Continuing, Stan said, “Jesus said that if my foot causes me to stumble, I am to cut it off.”

Stan added, “To me that means if going somewhere will cause me to stumble, I am not to go there.”

“There are lots of places to go that bring glory to God, and there are lots of places I can go that do just the opposite.”

“The world, the flesh, and the devil, along with my own self,” Stan went on, “are constantly tempting me to go places that will cause me to stumble.”

“Just as an example,” Stan continued, “the internet has a lot of really good things about it, but it also has a lot of really bad stuff.”

“Satan is standing there with the door open to the bad stuff, and he says, ‘come on in, it won’t hurt to just take a peek at what I have for you.”

“The Holy Spirit is also with me, and He is saying, ‘don’t go there.’”

Continuing, Stan said, “Who I listen to will determine whether or not I stumble.”

“I know too well the pain that comes from stumbling, and there is, for me, no momentary pleasure that outweighs that!”

“Just like the other ways of stumbling,” I said, “I can make a long list of things not to look at, not to touch and, now, places not to go.  I may very well run out of paper and ink!”

“Amen,” Stan concluded.

And if your hand or your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it from you.  Matthew 18:8.

Prayer:  Lord, you know my tendency to go where you do not want me to go.  Please forgive all of my wanderings to where I am not to be.  Thank you for all of the times you have brought me back from where I am not to be.  Please help me to only follow you to where you want me to be, and to not follow the world, the flesh, and the devil to where I am not to be.  Thank you that I can and do come before you in the name of Jesus.  Amen.
