“One of my neighbors was over last night,” Stan began. “He was really upset about his health insurance.”
“Why?” I responded. “What’s going on?”
“It seems,” Stan replied, “that my neighbor’s wife is quite ill and the health insurance company is refusing to pay for the treatment because they are saying she was sick when the insurance policy was issued.”
“The pre-existing condition exclusion,” I responded. “Is that what the insurance company is saying?”
“Apparently so,” Stan said. “The final decision has not been made, but that seems to be where it is right now.”
“I will add that to my prayer list,” I replied. “Your neighbors sure don’t need to worry about lack of insurance on top of the illness.”
“You’ve got that right,” Stan said. “And this whole thing made me think about the pre-existing condition each one of us has, as well as God’s coverage for it.”
“How so?” I asked.
“The fall in the garden,” Stan replied. “Because of what happened with Adam and Eve in the garden, each one of us has the pre-existing condition of being separated from God.”
“Because of their disobedience,” I said, “they messed it up for the rest of us.”
“That’s it,” Stan replied, “and God sent His Son into the world to reconcile us back to Him.”
“To take care of the pre-existing condition,” I said.
“Right again!” Stan responded. “To all who believe and accept by faith God’s free and gracious gift of salvation, the pre-existing condition of being separated from Him is resolved.”

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus. Romans 3:23, 24.
Prayer: Thank you, Father, for your remedy in Christ Jesus for my pre-existing condition of being separated from you because of the fall in the garden. Thank you for those who brought me to the truth of how Jesus took care of that pre-existing condition by paying the debt I could never pay on my own. Please help me in following your lead in telling others of your remedy for their pre-existing condition so they, too, can know they are no longer separated from you. Thank you I can and do bring these prayers before you in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Think on this: Do you realize you have the pre-existing condition of being separated from God because of the disobedience of Adam and Eve? Do you know about God’s provision for the removal of that condition? Have you accepted it? If not, why? If you have, what does the removal of that pre-existing condition mean for you during the time you have remaining on this side of eternity? Are there people in your life that need to know about the pre-existing condition and God’s remedy for it? Do you want to tell them? Why or why not?
