March 13, 2021 — Rejoicing and Weeping

On Thursday, March 11, a man of faithful obedience boarded the train to glory.  He is now in God’s eternal presence.  For that we rejoice.  Because God gifted him with abilities that he embraced with an obedient life of evangelism and teaching, there are countless people who came to faith in Christ.  For that we rejoice.  Because of him and his obedience, multitudes, including S. Tory Teller, have grown and will continue to grow in their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ.  For that we rejoice.

On the other hand, the man, Luis Palau, is not here and we weep because we miss him now and we will miss him in the future.  He left behind a wife, a family, and many friends who grieve his passing from this earth.  They weep and we weep with them.

Please join together in praying for those who are left on this side of eternity for now.  Please pray for their peace, comfort, strength, and encouragement as they carry on in their own faithful and obedient service for the kingdom.

Bible verses to consider:

Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.  Romans 12:15.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.  Matthew 5:4.

Prayer:  Thank you, Father, for the life of your servant, Luis.  Thank you for drawing him to you as a young person who dedicated his life to you.  Thank you for the countless number of people who came to faith through his obedience in being and doing what you had for him.  Thank you for his role in my life in helping me grow in my faith, along with the countless others who also have grown in their faith as disciples of Jesus Christ because of him.  I pray for those of his family who are left here for now.  I pray for Pat and the entire family as they grieve and weep because Luis is no longer here.  I ask you to give each one of them the sense of your presence, with your arms of comfort, peace, strength, and encouragement wrapped firmly around them as they carry on what you began, what you did in and through Luis, and what you will do in and through each one of them.  Thank you I can and do bring these prayers before you in the name of Jesus.  Amen.
