113. Why Disciple?

Note from The Storyteller:  If you have not read entries 1 – 112, don’t hesitate doing that because Stan has some insight that may help you.  All of the entries can be found at the following website:  https://www.waiting4thetrain.com/.  Also, feel free to forward this email to everyone you think would be interested in reading this blog.

“Stan,” I asked, “why are you willing to spend so much time with me, helping me with my relationship with God?”

“There are several reasons,” Stan replied.  “But let’s focus on just one today.  We can re-visit this another day as the opportunity arises.”

“It is a Biblical mandate,” Stan began.  “That is how the church grows and how the individuals who are part of the church move along the path towards maturity.”

Continuing, Stan said, “I was blessed to have a spiritual mentor, a friend who was willing to come along side me and provide discipleship.”

“His willingness to help me made a huge difference in my relationship with God.”

“I want to do the same to help you, my friend, and whoever else the Lord brings before me.”

“As you mature in your walk, you will be able to help others in the same way.  You will become a spiritual mentor to those the Lord brings.”

“In turn, those will eventually become spiritual mentors as well.”

“And,” Stan concluded, “on and on it goes.  The church grows and it grows into a more healthy body of committed believers.”

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.  Matthew 28:19.

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for those who are obedient to you and come along side of others to help disciple them.  Thank you for those who helped me.  Please bring to me all you want me to disciple and help me to disciple them in exact accord with your will.  Thank you that I can and do come before you in the name of Jesus.  Amen.
