181. Who’s Smiling Now?

“Everything I do,” Stan said, “on this side of eternity causes someone to smile.”

“That sounds like a giant exaggeration to me,” I responded.

“Depends on who I mean by ‘someone,’” Stan said with a sly grin.

“And I happen to mean either God or Satan.  Everything I do makes one or the other smile.”

“OK,” I said.  “Now I get it.”

“Good,” Stan said, and continued, “it is real important for me to keep that perspective before me at all times.”

“What I do and who I am on this side of eternity is going to result in either God or Satan smiling.”

“I know who I want to be smiling, but I also know how often I fall short of being able to see that smile”

“Too often I have the sense that it is Satan who is smiling instead.”

In response I said, “I know too well that I can certainly agree with that from my own perspective and my own experience.”

“And what you say opens to me the desire to want only to see God’s smile, never Satan’s.”

“Amen,” Stan said in response and added, “I try always to keep in mind who I am making smile, and whose smiley face sticker I am going to get.”

All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.  Romans 3:23.

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, that you make known to me when what I do causes you to smile, and when it doesn’t.  I want only to sense your smile, and never the smile of the evil one.  You know how much help I need.  I ask for all you can do to lead me to where you want me to be.  Please, Lord, lead and help me to follow.  I long for your smile.  Thank you I can and do bring these prayers before you in the name of Jesus.  Amen.

  1. A very timely message! I pray that what I do would bring smile to God’s face. For Him alone all the glory and praises.
