“Yesterday,” Stan began, “I told you about how my wife bought lunch for a young man who didn’t have any money.”

“You did,” I replied.  “I liked that story.”

“There’s a second part I didn’t mention that I would like to tell you about.”

“Please do,” I said.

“As we finished our lunch and left the sandwich shop, there was another fellow standing outside the door.”

“As we started to pass him, he said, ‘Excuse me, I only have a minute, but can I ask you a question?’”

“Both my wife and I said, ‘sure.’”

“The man then said, ‘I saw what you did in there and I am wondering why you did that.  I have never seen anyone do anything like that.’”

Continuing, Stan said, “Without hesitating, my wife said to him, ‘It is because we are Christians.’”

“Did the man say anything?” I asked.

“He said, ‘That’s it?  That’s your complete answer?’”

“I told him, ‘Yes,’ and I asked him if he would you like to know more about what it means to be a Christian?”

“He responded that he would, but he couldn’t right then, that he was already going to be  late in getting back to work.”

Stan then said, “I reached into my pocket and pulled out a booklet I always carry with me.”

“I handed it to him and told him it explained Christianity, had the Gospel of John, and would tell him what he needed to do to become a Christian.”

“Read this” I said to him.  “It can make a lot of difference in your life and in your eternal destination when your time here is done.”

“Did he take it?” I asked.

“He did.”

“Do you think he will read it?”

“Depends on how open he is to what God wants to do in and through him,” was Stan’s response.
