“I had a close call this morning,” Stan began.  “The Lord watched over me.  I guess it was not my time to get on the train.”

“What happened?” I asked.

“I was waiting at the stop light over on Center Drive where it intersects with 8th Avenue.”

“”When the light turned green, I started into the intersection.  I had only gone a few feet when a car came barreling through the intersection on 8th Avenue.”

“He obviously was running a red light.”

“Had I gone a few more feet, I could have been toast.”

“Wow,” I said, “that must have been a fright.  Did you do anything about that other driver?”

“No.  I went on through the intersection and then parked for a few minutes to thank God for His protection, gather my composure, and to think about what just happened.”

“While I was sitting there thinking and praying, God gave me a real clear picture of warnings.”

“Traffic lights are for a purpose.  And God’s warnings are for a purpose.”

“Too many times in my life,” Stan added, “I have run right through God’s warning lights.”

“I was in too big a hurry going where I wanted to go as fast as I wanted.”

“He puts up yellow caution lights and then He puts up red stop lights.”

“God warns me,” Stan continued, “and I am in danger to myself and to others when I choose to ignore His warnings.”

“He warns me for a reason.”

And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed for their own country by another way.  Matthew 2:12.

Prayer:  Thank you, Lord, for the ways in which you warn me.  Your warnings are to protect me and to lead me away from wrong being and wrong doing.  I need and ask for your constant help in being alert to your warnings, as well as having the wisdom to heed your warnings.  Please lead me and help me to follow. Thank you that I can and do come before you with these prayers in the name of Jesus.  Amen.
